Why a charging station? Battery powered vehicles have relatively short range which can produce "range anxiety" Soution: Don't worry people away from electric cars. Give them a place to plug in. A small electric car has about 1/10 the carbon footprint of a large gas powered SUV. The earth needs electrics! The RubeStation is a nice "streetscape amenity." It could be shade over your head while you wait for a friend or the bus---or while you sip you Starbucks! Little electric cars take up less space. At the RubeStation, three small electrics fit in the space needed for one "standard" gas guzzler. Who pays for the parking real estate in your town? The station produces power from the sun. It will completely pay for itself over time. The "Smart Grid" In the not too distant future you will plug in and buy power---or sell power back. You might buy from the electric company in the middle of the night at home and then sell some back through the RubeStation in the heat of the afternoon. Buy low and sell high so your transportation cost is practically zero!
